How to get finance/accounting experience? | debt consolidation ...

french asked:

I am an MBA student, graduated with a B.B.A. in business admin with emphasis in finance. I have a real estate license, mediation certificate, 2 years of on-campus (college based) accounting/finance experience and a summer CPA accounting internship. I have lots of experience working on large projects and am organized and good at handling a lot of different elements at once.
I am wanting to know what I should do about getting more outside of college jobs and into the real corporate world of finance and or accounting, anything really. I would like to get my CPA (and CMA) and/or CFA. I would like to one day become a VP or CFO, or an investment banker in M&A, or fund manager.

I know everyone in college (professors and elders) said get an internship, but I have applied to nearly 50 and have never gotten a single response back, or only a ?position has been filled.? So I have an inclining that I am overqualified or unfocused, mainly because I have little experience in a specific industry or position experience, since most all internships are given out by large corporations, that take in people with several years of experience, and want top 4.00 GPAs and top tier schools, not to mention Big Four Experience (finance ? IBD). So for those who did not go to harvard and got a 4.00 never seem to make it. Few jobs are left, and the only ones open are minimum wage jobs that are irrelevant on your resume to even get you the entry level or intern job.
I am working on my MBA to keep the college loans from coming due and to try to get an edge on the competition, but I think it makes me overqualified and is more of a negative than a positive, short term.

What do you suggest I do to get a job? Finance/ Acct with a BBA and MBA?
