Weather Blog Timeline For March 8

231pm ? getting reports of small hail near Corsicana

230pm ? HERE?s A QUICK FORECAST UPDATE FOR NEXT FEW DAYS

COLD AND BREEZY WEATHER NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS?

Temperatures have dropped into the 40s and 50s behind our cold front.? Winds are gusting to 35 mph out of the north.? Spotty showers will be with us thru the afternoon and evening.? There is a line of stronger storms from Canton to Corsicana that is moving to the east away from the DFW area.? Areas like Van Zandt, Navarro, Freestone, Henderson and Anderson County have the chance to see severe weather over next few hours.

TONIGHT?

Cold and breezy as temps stay and drop into the low 40s.? Winds remain breezy out of the north at 10 to 20 mph.? Winter jacket weather after as warm as it has been.? Spotty showers and drizzle will be possible tonight.


TOMORROW?

Cold and cloudy.? There will be some showers and maybe a few isolated thunderstorms, but areas south of I-20 will be the favored area for rain on Friday.? It will be cold and breezy with a high of only 48 degrees and winds out of the NE 10-20 mph.

SATURDAY?

Heavy rain is expected to develop during the afternoon into the evening on Saturday.? This will be the timeframe where we have the potential to see localized flooding.? Rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms will be possible thru Saturday night into the day on Sunday.? Exact location of who sees the most rain is still unclear, but there is a possibility that some areas see 2? to 3+? of rain Saturday night into Sunday with some areas possibly seeing as much as 5? of rain.? It will stay chilly with temps again in the 40s most of the day on Saturday.? Severe weather does not look likely other than a flooding potential.


SUNDAY?

The last gasp of this upper level storm system will pass thru Texas and bring us one last rain opportunity.? Winds will turn to the south in the afternoon and temps should climb into the 60s.


MONDAY AND TUESDAY?

Back to Spring like weather with highs near 80 degrees and some sunshine.

210pm ? Storms really getting stronger in Navarro, SE Kaufman and Van Zandt counties. ?Lots of lightning in those areas. ?This is where front is located at this time. ?Behind front here in DFW area, temps are in upper 40s with winds gusting to 35 mph. ?Spotty drizzle and light rain will be with us this afternoon.

130pm -?First signs of stronger storms along Hwy 243 btwn Kaufman and Canton. ?Not severe, but getting some lightning. ?Temps now down to 48 at DFW. ?47 in Fort Worth and 50 in Dallas with winds gusting to 40 mph. ?Spotty showers and even a few thunderstorms will still be possible thru the afternoon and evening. ?Only threat will be some hail with stronger storms.

1pm ? Cold temps have overtaken most of the metroplex. ?Temps have fallen into the 40s and 50s with north winds gusting to 40 mph behind the front. ?Still 70 in Mesquite, Terrell and Waxahachie. ?But hope you brought your heavy coat to work. ?Need it this afternoon. ?Where temps have fallen, severe threat is pretty much over. ?Can?t rule out an isolated small hail storm later this evening. ?South and east of the front has a small chance of severe weather.

9am ? Damage was reported in parts of Lamar and Delta County in NE Texas. ?According to NWS? One farm building was destroyed and several trees knocked down in Lamar County as well as a ticket booth at a dirt track was destroyed.
