A werewolf is a supernatural being who, upon the rising of the full moon every month, transforms into a fearsome, wolf-like monster. When not transformed, the werewolf cannot be distinguished from any human being, although their sense of smell, healing and hearing seem to sharpen before and after the full moon. Many werewolves feel ashamed of their condition as once the full moon has risen they became a deadly creature over which they have no control. The werewolf curse is normally passed on when a human is bitten or scratched by a transformed or partially-transformed werewolf. There is no known cure for the werewolf curse, although it seems that air pressure has an effect on transformation during the full moon, although this usually results in the painful death of the werewolf. Werewolves have a pack mentality although most of the great tribes have been all but abandon, only three remain active and thriving, the wolves of America, Russia, and Romania are the last form of "civilized" wolves. It is believed any others are just savaged loners or lost causes and are frequently the targets of hunters.

The Werewolf tribes

The Makeshift American Tribe: Like every person in America, this Werewolf tribe is a makeshift of many different origins Hamrammr, ruvanush, weredogs, even the fierce wolf hunters of Native myths. They are some what of a new tribe, only established a mere hundred years ago. In 1912, a large number of werewolves immigrated to the United States after the increased number of hunters that began to sprout up in Europe. After years of living an uncivilized existence as drunks and prostitutes the werewolves sprung up from the slums and started making a life for themselves and their families. Soon the took up residents in the middle class, taking simple medium wage jobs till the stock market crashed, and the world flew into a depression. Pushing themselves up once more, they began taking steps to insure that they would never fall so low again.

Romanian Tribe: The Romanian tribe is much more difficult to pin point, in legend they were known as the hunting dogs of Vampires, but those days are long since past and the tribe have integrated into the Gypsy tradition. Unlike other werewolves, Romanian werewolves are only born on the full moon each baring the mark of the wolf somewhere on their bodies, if a child of a werewolf is not born on the full moon, and then will be purely human, as werewolves of this tribe gain their powers at birth from the power of the full moon.

Russian Tribe: The Russian tribe is actually made up of two types of werewolves. The Wawkalaks originated with ordinary humans who have angered the Devil, and because of that have been turned into Wawkalaks. However they have never been the vicious, bloodthirsty creatures you?d think. They simply would return to their village and lick the hands of the ones they knew to show their love for the people. Their friends and family would always recognize the wolf, and would feed him to keep up his strength. The biggest curse that the wawkalak would have placed upon him (with the exception of now being a wolf) was that they could not stay in any one place for too long because they would need a constant change of scenery. So, they would roam from house to house looking for food, shelter, and love. Apparently even the lone wolves need companionship, and at times mated thus there young were born. After many generations the tribe grew in ranks and numbers, and the nomadic tribe gained its own identity.

The other type of werewolf is called Bodarks who originated from humans who wished to take the form of a werewolf by stabbing a copper knife into a tree. Still holding the knife, they are then to repeat this chant:

?On the sea, on the ocean, on the island, on Bujan,
On the empty pasture gleams the moon, on an ashstock lying
In a green wood, in a gloomy vale.
Toward the stock wandereth a shaggy wolf.
Horned cattle seeking for his sharp white fangs;
But the wolf enters not the forest,
But the wolf dives not into the shadowy vale,
Moon, moon, gold-horned moon,
Cheek the flight of bullets, blunt the hunters? knives,
Break the shepherds? cudgels,
Cast wild fear upon all cattle,
On men, on all creeping things,
That they may not catch the grey wolf,
That they may not rend his warm skin
My word is binding, more binding than sleep,
More binding than the promise of a hero!?

Once the tree had been stabbed, and the incantation chanted, the person then would run off into the forest, changing into a werewolf. Bodarks? are outcasted and hated; they are most known as ruthless lawless loners, who raid the Wawkalaks? tribe, and rape the women, in short they are ruthless blood lustful creatures whom spawned the radical hatred of Werewolves across the globe.
