Report: D.C. Police Already Planning For Nats Parade

Nationals celebration plans underway (US Presswire)

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Via WTOP.com, the Washington Nationals organization has already begun celebrating a little bit.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier confirmed on the WTOP radio station that she and the Lerners -- the owners of the Washington Nationals -- have been in discussion for a "big celebration."

Here's an excerpt from the article.

These plans will accommodate more than just the immediate stadium area, she says. Police are already planning for a parade in the event of a Nats' win, and for spontaneous celebrations in the streets.

Additionally, the report speculates the Lerners may pay the extra fee for Metro being opened late, once the playoffs begin.

My guess is that the organization won't be thrilled that this information was leaked publicly. But still, the Nats are 84-52. They should be allowed to plan for future celebrations. Manager Davey Johnson has told the media he expects to compete for the World Series.

Or are you in the camp that the Nationals are counting their chickens before they hatch?
