The Cellars-Hohenort set in beautiful Constantia, is offering a unique, interactive culinary experience. Liz McGrath, top hotelier and owner of The Cellars Hohenort Hotel, saw a need for the development of local cuisine and delved into researching the traditional and cultural food of the Cape Malay.
Cape Malay cuisine is distinctive to the Western Cape and dates back to the 17th century. Through the decades, it has evolved and changed to suit the current tastes and influences of the times and according to the local cooks in the area. Cellars-Hohenort have taken the wealth of the Cape Malay cuisine and invite you to join them in their Kitchens for The Cape Malay Experience.

Open to groups of 6 to 20 people, The Cape Malay Experience is hosted and presented by Martha Williams, talented Head Chef of The Cape Malay Experience. Upon arrival, guests enjoy a welcome drink before getting started in the Kitchen. Under the guidance and direction of Martha, guests prepare two main courses and a dessert. While their delicious meals are cooking, guests can sit and enjoy the delicious aromatic cape Malay recommendations. Once the food is out the oven, it is then dished by Martha and served by the waiters. A wine list is provided which shows a selection of? wines to perfectly compliment the Cape Malay cuisine.
